This pattern is a very easy and quick knit. Included with the pattern is a photo-tutorial on dyeing wool with Easter egg dyes (hence the name.) Please post pictures of dyed yarn in the projects page so other people can see your yarn and get ideas. Even if you don’t plan on knitting the sweater. The yarn produced in this way is truly random even within one skein you will get different sections of predominant colours and each skein will have its own dye lot(note the NB sweater’s left side is predominantly pink and the rest of the sweater is predominantly green.)

The pattern I have given is an adaptation of a very old Patons baby sweater pattern, but the main body of the sweater is worked in stockinette instead of garter stitch. I have also added I-cord edging up the front and around the neck edge. A knowledge of I-cord, I-cord edging and I-cord cast off is a must

The newborn size requires 2 50g skeins of yarn (328 yards) and the 6-month and 12-month sizes require 3 50g skeins of yarn (492 yards). This is my go to design when I need a quick and easy baby gift, I’ve made more of these sweaters than I can remember. There is now also a pattern for an Easter Egg Bonnet to match.

There has been some confusion with the I-cord edging at the yoke edge, I have added a chart of sorts to the PDF to try and make things clearer. Also the last picture is of a diagram of the short rows.
