You can use just about any yarn to crochet this snowflake.

If you want to make the snowflake as a Christmas tree ornament, you could crochet it in fine thread and then stiffen it using starch or glue. Then just add a wire hanger.

The project sample pictured here was made using Cascade 220. This version would make a nice applique.
