Echoes of Chincoteague is an elegant top down triangular lace shawl inspired by the flora and landscape of Chincoteague Island. The choice of fiber, color, lace stitches is designed to reflect the growing community of knitters in this barrier island community and its surroundings.

The pattern is now written for two amounts of yardage and a new Carodan Farm yarn Tides Gradient which has 475 yards per skein.

The Echo Lace section of the shawl is a reflection of shell fish, flora, and marsh mounds seen as you arrive on the island. The Waves and Dunes comprise the Atlantic Ocean vista and the Edging is a representation of the many pine trees on the island.

Size 5 for Cove yarn (3.75mm) 32” circular needles are used. Size 6 for Tides Gradient. The gauge is not essential to this project. Skill level is for an experienced knitter.

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions.

Chincoteague Colors yarn in the Cove Collection (fingering wt) is recommended for this shawl. A soft, 100% merino yarn, it is perfect for a soft shawl to toss about your shoulders. It is dyed on Chincoteague Island by Carodan Farm and reflects the many colors found on the Island.
