An asymmetrical shawl inspired by the Dashwood sisters of Sense and Sensibility.

I wanted it to be a shawl of two different textures and colours that work beautifully together. Elinor is steadfast, practical, and mostly keeps her emotions below the surface. The stalwart garter stitch with interruptions of lace represent her and her quiet passion. Marianne is a dreamer with ideals, and wears her heart on her sleeve. The lacework represents her romantic fancies. A garter border and a picot bind off embraces the lace just like Elinor is always there for her sister.

I chose colours to represent each sister, so if you have a sibling who is very different to you but you compliment each other like Elinor and Marianne, maybe you can choose colours to represent yourselves?

The shawl would work well in one colour too, though make sure you have enough yardage. The size of the shawl as written gives you a large shawl, though the lace of the shawl can be worked as many times as you like to give you an even bigger shawl (again, make sure you have more yardage than recommended for this!)
