You don’t have to pass by those tempting heel and toe sock sets because you don’t know how to knit afterthought heels. The Indie dyers are so good at coordinating these fun sets that I had to play with one even though I don’t knit many socks.

The extra 20g mini skein added to the 100g of sock yarn makes this shawl a touch bigger than a one skein wonder and it is just the right size for a summer shawl or winter layer.

You’ll use garter stitch and a few short rows to create striped sections with your mini skeins. The striped short row sections appear solid from across the room so your mini will go deceptively far to create the pop of color you want.

The pattern itself is simple and easy and a great Netflix knit but the results will really impress.

Pattern Notes:
This shawl is knit using garter stitches and accented with short row striped inserts placed along the edge of this asymmetrical shawl. Instructions for short rows are all given using w&t directions but any short row method can be used. All gauge and finished measurements are given UNBLOCKED although the project can be further blocked to create a larger shawl with more drape. Any weight yarn can be substituted although yardage was not tested for other weights. Heavier weight substitutions will require more yarn.
