This shawl is my first original design. Inspiration was found in The Estonian Scarf Copyright 2011 pgs 57 and 127.

The pattern includes charts and written patterns, size adjustment notes, schematics for assembly and youtube link for cast on methods and knitting nupps.

This shawl can be lenghtened easily by adding more repeats in the center section of the shawl. Width can be altered by removing or adding repeats in the border section and by adjusting the center motifs accordingly. This process is covered in the pattern as is the blocking methods.

Changing the yarn to a laceweight while keeping the needle size at a US 4 will create a similar sized shawl that is more lightweight.

Note on Nupps: The nupps in this shawl are 7 stitch nupps but if you are working with thicker yarn you may want to see if 5 stitch nupps create a nupp with smaller proportion. To do a 5 stitch nupp you would omit a yo, k1 from the nupp stitch direction. I used a fingering weight yarn with a lot of drape (alpaca and bamboo fiber) but if this shawl was made from a sock yarn or yarn with more twist a 7 stitch nupp might seem too large for the pattern.
