The many, nostalgic stories of families travelling to the Australian goldfields in search of a better life, near my hometown in Bendigo, was the inspiration for the Eureka Shawl. Here you see the long stretch of garter, of toiling under grey skies before striking it rich with the undulating waves of Shale stitch, in flowing veins of creamy quartz and old gold – that Eureka moment!

Cosy, large and warm, the Eureka Shawl knit in either DK or fingering yarn, will wrap you in warmth and lift your spirits as you brave the chill winds of the cold season.

The Eureka shawl is semi circular, knitted top down with an Icord Tab and almost entirely in garter stitch. This simple variation of the traditional Shale Border is easily memorised, while the long sweeps of colour will keep you interested and fascinated - just like panning for gold!
To add appeal, the Knitted-on Edge in garter stitch, creates an attractive and elegant finish.

Pattern support is given through charts and written instructions. YouTube tutorials are available for the following techniques: Provisional Cast On, Icord Tab, Cable Cast On and the Knitted-on Edge, making this a treasure trove of easy learning and information.
