The bubble cable pattern is reversible. Because of the 1x1 ribbed nature of the cable, the hat should stretch to fit a wide variety of head sizes - for sizes larger than woman’s small/ medium, simply work body pattern for more inches before decreasing for crown.

As a continental knitter, I often use smaller needles than most knitters for the given gauge. Don’t be surprised if you need to go up 1, 2, or 3 needle sizes from the #2’s I used.
