A unisex-sized sweater featuring an overall ribbing pattern with X-shaped cable crosses. The sweater has a casual, boxy fit after blocking. If a more body-conscious fit is desired, knit sweater size with 0” of ease and leave unblocked, or block very lightly.

The original sweater sample was knit in Trinity Ridge Alpacas sportweight, which is a farm yarn available in limited quantities. A similar commercial substitute would be Berrocco’s Ultra Alpaca Light, or another sportweight yarn with a nice drape and a soft hand. Due to the drapey nature of a high alpaca-content yarns, be sure to work a generous swatch and block as you would the finished garment to be assured you have the correct gauge.

I took my inspiration from the plowed furrow lines in farmer’s fields after the crop stubble has been plowed under and the fields are left fallow for the winter months. These geometric lines are often visible in the fields even under the first snowfalls of the season.
