This pattern is great for people who get chilblains, like a bit of extra cushiness underfoot or who tend to wear their socks out quickly. The thicker slip stitched toe, sole and heel should prolong your wearing pleasure for a lot longer than the average sock, but the top of the foot and leg are single stockinette, keeping it more dressy, with no sign of the bulkier base. Compared to the chisel toe shaping we usually see, this has a more rounded toe and will need blocking.

They are knit toe up, because that is my favourite way. :)

I have put a simple slip stitch pattern on the front of the sock, but with a little imagination and a pattern with the correct stitch count, you could do anything!

The pattern is on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pages. On the subsequent pages, I have re-written the pattern with a bit more detail and some photos for people who have not done much sock knitting.
