This is a suggested yarn - any 100% wool double knit will do. This little guy is knit in the round to avoid seams. You will need about 100 yards or 60 grms of main colour for body and legs and 30 grms for wings and tail and further 10 grms for beak. Also you will need two buttons for eyes and of course some stuffing.

The original fat chicks were knit in handspun wool - this is a good way to use up scrap wool. There is no reason the chick can’t have a stripey body or wings to facilitate using up bits and pieces - just try to balance it out. Of course it must be wool.
