Originally this pattern was designed to use handspun wool but I have recently Knit this in Donegal Heather and a chunky mohair and I think it works well. I used approximately 60 grms of the first colour and 30 of the second.

The strange name was given by my children as they felt the hat looked like a nomadic tent - it has stuck.

Knit in the round it requires some skill to manage the ridges but otherwise is a simple and quick hat to knit.

You could consider lining the hat if wool itching is a problem. This might be a good way to use up scraps of different yarns to add a bit of texture to the ridges.
