These start out knit in the round, then the back and front are knit separately, with stitches placed on waste yarn for arms. You then rejoin front and back, and finish neck and head in the round. Puppets are felted, and embroidered nose and whiskers are added later.

The author notes that these make good gifts for children going through illness or other crisis.

Pattern Description: “Once you have made the basic model…there is no limit to how you can embellish these hand puppets. Add extra colors to the sweater, embroider buttons down the front, or make an allover striped version. I promise you won’t be able to make just one!” Page 48
