Gauge is not really important since you will be felting each glove on your hands. To determine size felt each glove one at a time. Put on one glove, at a sink, or basin of hot water with soap in it, thoroughly wet and soap the glove. A washboard will help the felting to take less time, and enable you to fine tune the glove. Rub the glove with the other hand evenly. Then rub the glove off of your hand on the washboard. Rinsing most of the soap out of the glove helps the felting, as does changing the temperature of the water from hot to cold and back again. To shrink the glove widthwise rub the glove on the washboard while holding it sideways. To shrink the glove lengthwise rub the glove lengthwise. Be sure to try the glove on a few times during felting to be sure it does not get too small. Felt each finger one at a time by massaging it while on your hand. To felt down a very large finger rub it on the washboard sideways.
