Filet and Cross Stitch Heart Edgings by Amy Solovay

Filet and Cross Stitch Heart Edgings

This pattern is available for free.

Do you have projects that could benefit from a pretty heart edging? If so, you’ll want to check out this free crochet edging pattern, which includes a repeating heart chart. The official pattern name for these designs is Free Filet Crochet and Cross Stitch Heart Edging Patterns.

You can use this same chart to crochet two different, but similar, edgings; the differences come about because you can get different looks if you work the chart using different crochet techniques. One of the edgings is worked in filet crochet, and the other is worked in cross stitch on crochet.

You can work these edgings using any weight of yarn or crochet thread you want to. Crochet thread is ideal, but there are many other possibilities. If you use a heavier weight of yarn to work the filet crochet version, the hearts may turn out to be a bit less obvious in the finished fabric.

Please be aware that these edgings don’t include instructions for turning corners; they’re suitable for finishing off projects like the upper edges of flat sheets and around the outside edges of pillowcases, but are not suitable for use on blankets. If you’re looking for blanket edging patterns, try these instead.

I hope you’ll find these edgings to be useful and enjoyable projects. I welcome your feedback on the pattern; if you have comments or questions, please leave a comment on the pattern page at my website instead of here at Ravelry. I’m not able to spend as much time at Ravelry as I’d like, so I am not likely to see and respond to questions in a timely manner if you post them here.

Thanks for your interest! Happy crocheting and cross stitching.
