This pattern is called Fingerless Sawtooth Mittens in Knitting Traditions 2010, and Fingerless Rovaniemi Mittens in Piecework Jan/Feb 2008.

These mittens use a technique unique to Rovaniemi knitting: they are worked in the round, but only the main color completes the rounds. The three pattern colors are arranged on a single long needle, and each color follows its own narrow path upwards, with the MC traveling over the pattern colors.

Finished size: 7 inches (17.8 cm) hand circumference and 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) long.

Mitts use 1 skein each of 4 different colors of Satakieli:

  • about 180 yards/165 m of MC,
  • 32 yards/29 m EACH of colors A and B,
  • 24 yards/22 m of color C for the knitting.

In addition to the set of 5 US 00/1.75 mm DPNs listed above, the pattern requires one long straight needle, size 0 to 3, for holding yarn skeins.
