Florentina grew up in New York, where she trained at some of the finest ballerina schools. Her favorite color is green, and she enjoys matching her slippers, her tutu, and her mittens to be all the same color. Oh, and her favorite breakfast is a bagel.

Florentina’s components are worked in the round (with the exception of her ears, which are worked flat) and are sewn onto the body upon completion. The tutu ruffle is worked as a part of the body from stitches which are created and held for the ruffle.

There are no complicated stitches in this project, however, you must be comfortable knitting pieces in the round (the thumbs are the smallest round) in order to be successful at completing this project.

The example Florentina was knitted in worsted weight yarn on US size 6 (4.0 mm) needles. She is about 10” from her bottom to the top of her ears.
