PART OF THE welcome distractions COLLECTION - last chance to purchase the collection at the discount price of 3 euros (usual price of a single pattern) - the price will increase shortly.
----------------------------------------------------------------THE PATTERN IS BOTH WRITTEN AND CHARTED SO YOU CAN CHOOSE HOW YOU LIKE TO WORK - for ease of knitting there are 2 charts - one for dark MC; another for light MC.

I first made one of these hats in 2019, but somehow the idea came back to me during the “stay at home”

The little “firefly” stitches seem to represent wild thoughts and then the lovely rosette in the crown reminds me of how knitting helps me to pull together all my wild thoughts, focus and stay calm - in general, but especially during this COVID crisis.

The pattern includes details for the “firefly” stitches - they are made like cables with the addition of slipped stitches (very easy to work without a cable needle if you like that technique - instructions are given for both methods).

YARN:

If you look through the projects, you’ll see various yarn combinations that can work well:

  • tweed or specked MC with solid CC
  • semi-solid MC with variegated CC (malabrigo does these types of yarn well)
  • solid or semi-solid MC with striping CC (such as Noro Kureyon or Silk Garden)

allow approx. 100m/110yds of MC
approx. 50m/55yds of CC

(a bit more if you want a really slouchy hat)

The pattern has a sizing table for 3 different gauges (fingering, DK or worsted/aran)
