Where does the inspiration for a new design come from? Everywhere. Everything. Everyone. My “unofficial” son-in-law is the inspiration for this hat. I can see him wearing it with his hair all long and shaggy. The matching (or not-so-matching) cowl is for my oldest daughter. She found a wonderful “rock” that keeps her grounded without clipping her wings.

The yarn used is a hand-spun, hand-dyed wool yarn. Once more, my “unofficial” son-in-law was the inspiration on the yarn coloring. Black seems to be his color of preference, which I respect. I’m hoping by using the darker natural colors, he’ll love it as much as he does his preferred color.

The pattern is 9 pages in length. It contains written and charted instructions, color photos, glossary, and will take you from cast on to blocking and finishing.
