Forest Mosaic Wrap is a quick and easy scarf/wrap with textured colorwork that looks impressive but is really just slipped stitches.

The colorwork uses only one color per row! It’s so much fun to work the design in a gradient yarn and it’s also a great way to use up stash and leftover yarn… maybe even a skein of variegated yarn against a strongly contrasting background?

Forest Mosaic is worked end to end. The borders can be worked in the main color throughout or can be striped in the mosaic sections. Tassels are optional for a bit of added fun at each end.

The pattern is written for both fingering/sport and for DK yarn and is great for both men and women. Size and yarn usage will vary with differences in yarn and gauge.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Forest Mosaic collection, including the matching Forest Mosaic Hats, a pattern with 3 different colorwork designs, all featuring different aspects of this scarf design.

This pattern has been professionally tech-edited and tested.
This pattern is both charted and there are fully-written instructions for each chart row…this is probably not necessary for colorwork charts but I did it for this one….

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

13 x 80 inches / 33 x 203 cm. Size is adjustable by adding repeats. Make it narrow as a scarf or wider for a wrap. Size and yarn usage will vary with different yarn weights and gauge.

RECOMMENDED YARN

Fingering or Sport weight or DK yarns that meet gauge, are smooth and in strong color contrast to each other with no color overlap.

Sport Gauge - 27 sts and 38 rows in 4 inches in stockinette.
DK Gauge - 24 sts and 32 rows in 4 inches in stockinette.

Sample shown used:

Contrast Color (CC): Spincycle Dyed in the Wool – Sport or Heavy Fingering in color Cataclysm. Any colorway will work with a background that provides strong contrast.

Main Color (MC): Sincere Sheep Cormo Sport in color Bare.

Other Recommended Yarns: Sew Happy Jane-Delightful Tweed DK; Hazel Knits – Lively DK; Knitted Wit DK; The Farmer’s Daughter-Craggy Tweed; Spincycle - Wilder; Spincycle Dream State; Magpie Fibers - Nest Worsted.

Substitute any yarn that meets gauge (for either the Sport or the DK version) including leftovers in your yarn stash! MC yarn should be a smooth yarn, of equal weight and in strong color contrast to the CC yarn.

Estimated Yarn Required
Main Color (MC): 800 yds / 732 m. or 650 yds / 592 m in DK weight.
Contrast Color (CC): 200 yds / 183 m. or 165 yds / 150 m * in DK weight.

Yarn usage will vary depending on gauge, options chosen, and specific yarn.
