This modern, oversized tunic makes a perfect layering piece for every season. It can be worked in plant fibres and worn as a long t-shirt in summer or it can be worked in wool yarn and worn over a long sleeved shirt during the colder seasons. It’s a fun and quick knit so it’s easy to make one for each season!

The tunic is worked seamlessly from the top down. The work begins with the collar which is shaped with short rows to make the front of the collar stand lower. The shoulder shaping is done next by combining some saddle shoulder shaping with raglan sleeves. Sleeve ribbings are worked at the same time with the upper body so there’s no picking up stitches anywhere! The sleeve stitches are then bound off and the body is worked in the round towards the hem, finishing it off with a ribbing.

Instructions for optional armhole finishing have been included. The pattern also includes a photo tutorial for German short rows.

The sample is worked in coarse finnish wool but I’ve added a few options for yarns that I think make a great substitute!
