Dian Fossey (1932-1985) was a primate zoologist who studied the mountain gorillas of Rwanda. An avid preservationist, she created a world-wide campaign to protect the gorillas, but also angered those who would rather capture them for zoos or exploit them for tourism. She was murdered in her cabin in Rwanda, and the crime remains unsolved. Her story is told in the film Gorillas in the Mist starring Sigourney Weaver.

This cardigan is inspired by Dian’s outdoorsy style. The simple and quick top-down raglan construction creates an easy-to-wear cardigan/jacket that’s perfect for a hike through the forest or through town. A braided cable down each side of the front button placket creates waist shaping—without the need for decreases.
