The main feature of this project is its freestyle character. There are a lot of things you can (or, better still, you should) change, following your sense of beauty or even self-identity. You choose the path in a garden, which is laid out for you personally – and only for you. What I suggest is a kind of location - and step-by-step description of the path, I’ve passed once.

So, what exactly are those things, which you should choose?
Let’s start with yarn.
Yarn weight
You’ll need at least two yarns of different weights (in the range of fingering-aran - or, if you prefer to explore limits, light fingering and bulky threads are also possible).
Yarn colours
No hints, alas. Solid or kettle dyed, variegated, with long or short colour sections, soft or vivid - it is totally up to you.
Yarn structure
Here on the contrary, I’d like to give a strong recommendation: avoid any fancy spun yarns! Simple, even, traditional, like Ariadna’s thread.
Yardage/meterage
250-400 meters in all (for a size approx. 130-160 cm along the top edge)
Needles
2,75 - 4,5mm depending on yarn
Hook
2,5 - 3,5mm (for crochet picot edging only. I personally like picot edging here - but there are amazing projects with i-cord edging from non-crochet ravelers.)
Shape and size
Triangle, knit from top down (what means, you could finish all this knitting at any moment, when you consider your shawl to be large enough)

If you’ve read to this point, you’ve surely got already, that “it” can be worn equally by men or women, in summer or in winter, wrapped around the neck or draped over shoulders, function as a shawl or scarf (or even head kerchief;)).

Skills
The pattern is rather easy technically (I’d say, for adventurous beginner or lower intermediate).
Knit, purl, increase sts, slip sts, use additional needle – that are all abilities you need.
There are difficulties of another kind, though, which require another kind of skills, like sense of composition and colours, self-confidence, ability to handle different themes, developing at the same time, etc.

Are things tangled enough now?
