Are you looking for a great knitting project that is fun and easy to knit, yet won’t bore your socks off?
Meet Garter Snake!
Using just knit and purl stitches and working from the bottom up in two contrasting colours, this pattern is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned knitters that are looking for a relaxing project that is a pleasure to make as well as to wear or gift.

Sizes: Regular: 20 cm (8”) Wide, 153 cm (60”) long
Large: 25 cm (10 “) wide, 220cm (86”) long
Instructions include how to make it smaller or larger. Decide on whether you want to just lay the scarf around your neck or wrap it once, or even twice. This will determine how long the scarf should be. A shorter scarf should be narrower than a longer one, but that’s only a guide! It’s up to you and this pattern is easily customizable.

Materials: Fingering Weight Yarn
You will need two 100g balls (420m per 100g), one in a dark colour and one in a light colour. They can be variegated. The bigger the contrast, the better.
Yarn Suggestions: Regia 4 ply Color 100g
McIntosh British Bluefaced Leicester 4ply
West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply
Knitting needles: 3 mm (US2.5) I used a short circular, but straight needles are fine to use.
Tension/Gauge: 24 sts and 44 rows to 10 cm (4”) measured after blocking.
