This scarf uses my very favorite garter stitch! It also has enough lace to keep the interest going. The pattern starts with a long strip of a 10 row lace pattern that is also garter stitch and easy to memorize. When you reach the end of that, stitches are picked up along the length of the lace. Short rows fill in the center of the scarf! Don’t be worried about the wrap and turn stitches, you just knit them in garter stitch!

I have knitted this scarf with a variety of fingering weight yarns. The classic elite “ Alpaca Sox “ worked very well, so I’m sure you could try your own favorite sock yarn and it would work just as well. If you wanted to try a heavier weight of yarn I’m not sure of the yardage but the pattern would work just as well. It would, of course, be larger.
