This button-up cardigan, which can be made in a soft pastel colors for a girl, or in bright colors for a boy, features an easy Fair Isle pattern. Worked with fine needles to fit a three to four-year-old, it can be made to fit larger sizes by using thicker needles.

The original was knitted in yellow with a blue and white pattern, but other colors of your choice may be substituted.

Materials:
2 oz 3-ply wool in yellow (or other foundation color)
1 oz 3-ply wool in blue
1 oz 3-ply wool in white
(Larger sizes will require more wool)
1 pair each of No. 12 and 13 needles; 7 buttons.

Measurements:
Length from shoulder: 10 in.
Width all around underarms: 24 in.
Sleeve seam: 12 in.

Tension: 9 sts to 1 in. in width and 21 rows to 2 in. in depth measured over the Fair Isle pattern.
