The tunic was designed to be worn over a swim suit but it looks great over a turtleneck with jeans or tights. This flattering and unique tunic was designed for my friend Geri Krotow – talented romance novel writer. She is the one who inspired and encouraged me to start creating my patterns. Geri, if it wasn’t for you I would have never known the joy and satisfaction of creating patterns.

Finished size - 21 (23, 26, 28, 30, 32)’’ wide and 33” long (see schematic) to fit 32 (36, 42, 46, 50, 54)” bust circumference and 34 (38, 44, 48, 52, 56)” hips circumference. 8” of positive ease added to the hip circumference.

Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop 50% Cotton, 50% Bamboo, 292 yards per 100g skein.
If using one color, you will need: 2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 3) skeins or approximately 550 (650, 700, 750, 800, 850) yards of similar yarn that gives you the correct gauge.

If using two colors, you will need: 2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skeins of Main Color yarn or approximately 370 (430, 460, 500, 530, 560) yards of similar yarn that gives you the correct gauge and 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1) skein of the Contrasting Color or 180 (220, 240, 250, 270, 290) yards of similar yarn that gives you the correct gauge.

Yarn used in the sample (size L):
Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop 50% Cotton, 50% Bamboo, 292 yards per 100g skein; Main Color (MC) #116 ROYAL; 2 skeins or approximately 500 yards; Contrasting Color (CC) #206 GRAPE GARDEN; 1 skein or approximately 250 yards.

The tunic is worked from the shoulders down. First, right and left front parts are worked form a Provisional cast-on together or separately, then the right and left back parts are worked from the Provisional cast-on together or separately. Once the right length is reached, all four top parts are joined and worked on the round to desired length. Shoulder areas have holes near the Provisional cast-on thru which the cord is pulled to be able to gather the material at the shoulders. The provisional cast-on is used at the shoulder line to be able to knit live stitches in the opposite direction (better approach then to use Kitchener stitch to join front to back at the shoulder area if the garment would have been worked from bottom up or top down without the Provisional cast-on).
