I made a pair of opera length gleeves from recycled cashmere to keep my arms warm during my bicycle commute. A woman bought my original pair off me in an H&M in DC, so I had an excuse to trot out a new and improved version.

These gleeves knit up tight and stretch quite a bit when you wear them. My biceps are about 12” around at their largest and the 10” size fits snugly over the sleeves of a cotton/spandex tee and easily over my bare arms (not recommended if wool bothers your skin). If you have larger arms or want these baggier, knit at a looser gauge or increase the number of stitches in the stockinette section.

I knit these on the fly and then went back and wrote up a pattern (which turned out not to be very simple at all). I’m looking forward to feedback from any brave souls who try the pattern and are willing to comment on it.
