Glühwein is a traditional German beverage often served at Christmastime. Made from red wine, spices, and citrus juice and served hot, it will warm you up on a snowy winter’s day.

One skein of chunky yarn makes a quick and easy, cozy cowl that will also warm you up on a cold winter day. Stockinette and reverse stockinette are separated by wandering twisted stitches. This pattern works well with variegated colorways. Glühwein is knit lengthwise and then joined to make use of stockinette stitch’s tendency to roll inward at the sides.

Skills required:
• Provisional cast-on
• Right and left twists
• Three-needle bind-off or grafting (the three-needle bind-off provides a bit of structure and is less intimidating for most knitters to work, but does make a more obvious join)

Links to tutorials for these techniques are provided in the pattern.

The sample used all but about 8 yards of the 107-yard skein of Super Traveller, so make sure your gauge is correct if you need to complete this out of one skein!
