Every year since 1887 the Grand Hotel has welcomed countless guests and families to Mackinac Island, where bikes and horse drawn carriages are the modes of transportation. In 2012 the hotel celebrated 125 years of serving guests. Somewhere In Time starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Plummer was filmed there and released in 1980.
At 660 feet, Grand Hotel’s Front Porch is the world’s largest, and is visible as you approach the island from the Straits of Mackinac. I’d like to think that long ago these vintage socks may have adorned young ladies feet there. Yet may they still….
