This is a granny square pattern that I have used many times over the years for some projects I’ve made and also to teach people crochet. As I am running some workshops for crochet at the HEFF home educators festival this summer I have written out the pattern, so that it will be easier in the group to make this or some of the other patterns I’ve written out for this.
The pattern is very easy as it consists of just chain and treble stitches
With the sport weight yarn that I used the size of 1 square ends up being 11cm x 11cm.
You can make these squares with left over yarn. But mind you to take the same type of yarn as it becomes very hard to wash a project with a large variety of yarns. My mother used to just mix everything and ended up with some squares very tiny and others very loose after a few washings as it often was a mix of anything she had left overs of or anything she had been gifted and frequently didn’t know what material it really was. You have been warned LOL
