From book: This terracotta and black vase dating from c. 540 BC may be found in the British Museum, London. It is signed by the painter, Exekias and is Athenian. It depicts Achilles slaying the Amazon Penthesilea.

The bands of pattern around the base and neck of the jar have been translated into jacquard knitting bordering the front panel of the sweater. The head and shoulders and worked in intarsia.
