Gyrus Tam

Knitting
September 2014
Fingering (14 wpi) ?
24 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches
in stockinette stitch in the round on larger needle, blocked
US 3 - 3.25 mm
US 4 - 3.5 mm
190 yards (174 m)
18" (45.5cm) unstretched band circumference x 7" (18cm) deep

Worked from the top down in the round, this lacy tam has textural nupps and lace stitches worked on every round. The brim is finished off with an elastic bind-off that might become your new favorite way to bind off in pattern!

Lace doilies don’t fit my home’s decor, but I inherited a box-full from my grandma and love to pull them out and study the crochet stitches. I realized if I designed a lacy tam from the top down it would be a similar concept, but knit. What fun to turn this passion into a new hat!
