Shortly after I knit this hat, my eldest son declared that the texture reminded him of the bark of a hackberry tree, hence its name. This hat has a fun pseudo-slouchy style, more of what I call a “poof” hat, characterized by a pretty round of yarn over increases at the end of the ribbed brim. Easy to knit, and easy to wear, Hackberry is perfect for both children and adults.

The pattern is pretty straightforward and possibly my favorite knitted hat ever. I have found it very wearable. If you knit it, please do message me with any feedback! Thank you!
