These Halloween Baby Gnomes are ready to trick-or-treat! They stand only six and a quarter inches tall to the tip of their hats. They’re dressed in fun costumes, and have a tote bag to collect lots of candy. Their costumes include the gnome hat, ballerina leotard and tutu, mermaid bikini bra top and mermaid tail. Samples were made in worsted weight yarn, but you could make them in any gauge by adjusting the yarn weight and needle size. A quick project, and a good way to use small amounts of yarn.
Materials:
Needles: sz 5 double points
Crochet hook sz G for mermaid bikini bra band
Worsted weight yarn, approx. amounts for each gnome: hat color – 19.5 yards; Ballerina leotard/tutu color – 22 yds, Ballerina nose/arm color – 3.25 yds. Mermaid body/nose/arm color – 17 yds; mermaid tail – 20 yds, mermaid bikini bra band – 1.25 yds. Tote bag – 6.5 yds.
Buttons for bikini bra top – 2, approx. ½” diameter; shells or flowers suggested
Clip on marker
Yarn needle
Small amount of Polyfill stuffing
If Gnome will be a decoration, buy a 1.5” fender washer to weight the bottom. If Gnome will be a toy, do not insert the washer.
3 stitch holders for mermaid tutu if you will be attaching it – round toothpicks work well, or extra dp needles.
