The Halyard mittens are incredibly cute and a great way to use up leftover yarn that you’ve been hanging onto. This pattern is for knitters that feel confident in their colorwork skills. For a lot of the wrist portion, you need to use three colors on a single row. These mittens feature an afterthought thumb so the colorwork pattern has limited interruptions. The colorwork pattern is fully charted.

Gauge:
20 sts x 20 rows = 4 in x 4 in in stockinet stitch
24 sts x 24 sts = 4 in x 4 in in color work pattern

Note: The gauge was measured after light blocking.

Yarn:
The samples are knit with Cascade 220 (100% wool). I used 120 yards of the main color (white), 23 yards of contrast color 1 (dark blue), and 40 yards of contrast color 2 (light blue).

The Halyard Mittens are the last pair in the three part mitten collection I released in January 2015. If you missed them, the first pair are the Full Sail Mittens, and the second are the My Sweet Dinghy Mittens. Check them all out. Happy knitting!
