Hap Rapt
The Hap Rapt Shawl features stranded color work stripes, knit circularly with a steek that is unraveled to form a fringed edge. Hap Shawls worn by women in the Shetland Islands inspired this shawl that is as comforting to knit as it is to wear.
Knit in fingering weight yarn at a fairly loose gauge for a draped effect, the finished shawl can be worn with the fringe at the bottom or the top, making it a versatile wardrobe addition.
Samples were knit with 10 balls, 5 each of two colors of Jamieson’s Spindrift, resulting in a generous 80 inch / 203.2 cm wingspan. One skein of Euroflax combined with one half skein Tosh Light resulted in a kerchief size neck wrap.
