This pattern uses stranded colorwork. If you have not used this technique before, a good source is Vogue Knitting, the Ultimate Knitting Book.

This pattern really keeps your interest, and goes quickly. It is knit from the bottom up, has cables and the colorwork. The worsted yarn is double stranded giving you a nice warm hat that does not take long to complete.

The bottom of the hat, including the flaps are finished off with a round of single crochet, and tassels on each earflap. You could put a pom pom on top if you like!
