This sweater was an experiment in playing with a motif in different sizes and contexts. I started with the large diamond motif at the hems and then repeated the internal heart-shaped motif twice more in the body. The recurring yo-s2kp2-yo eyelet pattern from the large motif was used to link the hearts and then continue up the body. The hearts appear in miniature in the collar, complete with the yo-s2kp2-yo motif to tie it all together. I used a merino yarn with great stitch definition to show it all off, in a subtle tonal shade that would not compete with the intricate stitch patterns but would provide depth to the color. The result is a sweater that can be dressed up or down and paired with a wide range of colors.

The sweater is worked in the round, bottom-up, with set-in sleeves. The shoulders are sewn and the sleeve caps set in, and the collar is worked by picking up stitches.
