The lovely baby-boy blanket is shown here in TLC Heathers (an easy care blanket) … that said, any worsted weight yarn would work for this knit-from-the-center blanket. The original I knit for my youngest son’s Christening -- and also a jacket, sox and bonnet (he was baptized in an ancient Church in Austria in December and it was cold!).

The matching hat, like a balaclava to keep the little guy’s ears and neck cozy warm is included in this pattern.

You must be able to read charts and understand circular lace knitting (where only a quarter of the overall stitches are shown). Basically, you need to be able to read the chart and repeat the stitches 3 more times per round.

Gauge is not critical when doing this blanket but you want a loose, soft fabric … if you’re knitting too tightly go up on a size on the needles; if you’re knitting is too loose (and loosing the definiting of the lace work), go down a needle or two.

Go for it!
