I dug up on old sweater from the flea market, unravelled it, and knit it again into a chunky, comfy shrug that’ll keep me warm during the winter. When using upcycled yarn, it’s nearly impossible to define the material and consumption accurately. The yarn I got was a chunky acrylic with multiple shades of grey. Any kind of yarn that suites the needle size is good for this pattern. I used almost all of the original sweater, which is approx 400 grams of yarn.

The shrug balances stockinette with seed stitch, and features a crochet picot cast-off which gives it a light, airy feel. This style doesn’t have closure in the front, and can be worn open, or closed with a pin or brooch. This feature gives the shrug versatility in a feminine way.

The shrug is knit with large needles, and has a shaped back and sleeves. The wide border can be knit as large or as narrow as You choose.

The pattern is written in Finnish and English, and includes phase photos.
