Gain some fun new hat-knitting skills with this sideways-constructed, bias-bodied hat, knit entirely flat and finished with optional buttons for extra personalization! The Twisted Rib body is worked by reading your knitting as the ribs travel up, swirling around the body of the hat.

This hat is knit flat, from side to side, with the main Twisted Rib stitch pattern worked on the bias using increases and decreases. The brim is stretchy with sideways Garter Stitch, and the crown is shaped with German Short Row wedges.

The hat height and circumference are not tied to each other, so you can choose the height for one size and the circumference for a different size. The Cast On edge and Bind Off edge are joined together either by seaming or with buttons up the body of the hat for a decorative join. There is an optional I-Cord topper.

The German Short Rows method is used, with written instructions included in the pattern; for more help, see this video tutorial.
