This pattern was originally designed for the August 2022 “I Make Mittens” group KAL.

The theme for the month-- “Sunrise, Sunset”-- also included all things astronomical--Sun, moon, stars, planets, galaxies, black holes, eclipses and so on!

There are three sizes available with the following gauges: Adult Small (29 sts and 32 rnds/4 inches), Medium (27 sts and 30 rnds/4 inches) and Large (25 sts and 28 rnds/4 inches). The sizes are achieved by using various yarn weights and needle sizes. The same stitch counts and charts are used for all sizes.

The pattern uses simple stranded colorwork motifs and only uses 2 color per round. It is a great pattern for using up odds and ends, and while each chart is written in just 2 colors (light and dark), there are endless possibilities for working in as many colors as you like, including with self-striping and gradient yarns!

The pattern includes full charts for the three variations: Eclipse, Morning and Evening. Also included is the chart used for the sport weight sample mittens (the blue/yellow/green sample in the photos) as a bonus!
