Herringbone describes a distinctive V-shaped pattern usually found in woven twill fabric. The herringbone pattern dates back to Egyptian and African cultures where it was used to fashion decorative jewelry and basketry. It is so named because it resembles the skeleton of the herring fish. Using worsted weight, the hat is knit at 22 sts to 4” for small and 20 sts to 4” for large. A colorful chart is included for colorwork.
