Hidden Ridge is a design built directly into CustomFit, which means that each Hidden Ridge pattern is written specifically to your choice of gauge and size.

Hidden Ridge is a cozy, luscious cowl with a super-subtle cable set into the front. For winter, I absolutely love it in Rowan’s Fazed Tweed, a warm-and-snuggly tube construction yarn made from a mix of wool and alpaca. (In fact, it was so cold the day we had the photoshoot for this sweater, and the sweater is so cozy, that my friend Beth refused to take it off when we were done, and it has lived with her ever since!)

But this style works equally well in warmer-weather yarns for spring and summer, too. (I’ve personally got my eye on one version out of Creative Linen, and another, A-line version out of Chaingeleing.) And since it’s one of CustomFit’s designs, you can make your own in any yarn you like.

The gentle waist shaping (on the back only) for this pullover, along with the cowl, make this a great sweater for a more relaxed fit. As shown here, it features long sleeves and a long sweater length, but both can be changed within CustomFit before making your own version of Hidden Ridge. All edges are trimmed with 2x2 ribbing.

I used Rowan Yarns Fazed Tweed, in the color “Ebony”, for the sample shown. This yarn is a lovely match for the design - the fuzzy, high-contrast look of the stitches is due to Fazed Tweed’s unusual tube construction. I strongly recommend a worsted-weight or heavier yarn to preserve the proportion and look of the cable.

Since CustomFit automatically takes into account the gauge difference of the cable and Stockinette, please swatch in Stockinette for this sweater.

I liked Fazed Tweed at a gauge of 15 stitches and 21 rows to 4’’ (10 cm). But CustomFit will create your pattern to the gauge you specify - and for that reason, it’s difficult to give any kind of yardage advice! To estimate how much yarn you’ll need, I strongly recommend the “Stashbot” app or pamphlet by Hannah Fettig.
