Honeycomb is a semi-circular shawl made with slipped stitches and some short rows. These cells look like honeycomb or a cut-out basketweave, depending on how they are blocked. There is no stranding; you always work with just one color in any row.
You can knit a semi-round shawl, or a rectangular wrap with this pattern.
Materials:
- solid fingering-weight yarn in 3 colors. You will have some leftovers left (quite a lot from the very top color), but for the other two colors, you will likely use close to a full 100g/400m skein. So, its better to have 3 full skeins to make the shawl.
If you choose to knit a rectangular wrap, you can use as many colors as you want, and the amount of yarn needed will only depend on how large you decide to knit it.
- long circular needles: 4mm or US size 6.

Gauge: the shape and size of those colored cells depend on the way they’re blocked. On a rectangular item, they have the appearance of honeycomb; each cell measures 5.5 x 5.5cm. On a semi-circular shawl, where the outer row of cells is stretched in width, the size of the cell is about 7cm in width, and 5cm in height. The plain garter gauge is approx. 22 stitches and 28 rows in 10 x 10cm.

The size of the prototype shawl after blocking: 160cm wide, drops 75 cm.
