This scarf has an inch of garter stitch at the cast-on and bind-off edges, a stockinette body, and a border of seed stitch on either side (to add texture, but also to prevent the scarf from curling).

The stripes are based on numbers from the Fibonacci sequence.

I used three colors, but it can be made in 1, 2, 4, 5, 100, whatever number of colors you prefer.

I chose to base the colors in the scarf off my house colors (in my college, all residents are divided into houses, like in Harry Potter), but other ideas include using your school colors, colors of your favorite sports team, or your own favorite colors. The nature of this scarf also makes it a great way to use up scraps!

Don’t worry about getting the exact gauge, since getting the exact width or length on this scarf is really not that important. Just make it as wide/long as you like!

Using three balls of yarn (110 yds/ball) gets you a decently long scarf (about 50”) but some may prefer a scarf up to twice as long, so you may consider buying as many as 6 balls.
