I talk with the moon, says the Owl,
As it lingers over my tree.
I talk with the moon, says the Owl,
And the night belongs to me.
From the Poem ‘I talk with the Moon’ by Beverly McLoughland

Notes
Yarn
The sample shown uses a DK weight, non-superwash pure wool. It is recommended that you choose a woollen-spun yarn which has a halo, allow the fibres to grip or stick to one another. Smooth, shiny yarns (i.e. worsted spun, superwash treated, or those with slippery fibres – alpaca, silk, cotton, etc.) are not recommended for use with this pattern due to its use of crocheted steel.

Customisation
The pattern can be modified in a few different ways so that your finished tea cosy fits your pot. Suggestions for customising the pattern are included next to the written instructions in the help / Custom boxes.

Remember to adjust your overall st counts if modifying the pattern. Extra yarn will be need if the size is increased beyond the XL given in the pattern.

Please note: There are two versions of this pattern included in the download, with differences in the presentation of the charts and the steek set up/finishing.

  • The 2014 file is the older version of the pattern, with the original steek system (sts not bound off before/after steek chart) plus 4 charts for the pattern (A-D).

  • The 2016 file is the newer version of the pattern, with the new steek system (sts bound off before/after steek chart) plus 3 charts for the pattern (the original charts B-C are now combined into one).
