This delicate cowl reminds me of a French pastry decorated with swirls of colorful icing. It uses lace weight for the main color, with a multi-colored sport weight for the textured bands. Knitted in the round, with simple shaping and an easy to memorize stitch pattern, it’s a lovely, lightweight addition to your spring accessories.

It uses approx. 225 yards of lace weight, and approx. 70 yards of sport weight. A sport weight with shine/texture/multi-colors will add to the textural interest.

Both of my versions use a handspun 2-ply for the sport weight contrast bands. I made two using different lace weight for each, one with a smooth merino, and the other with a sparkly mohair. I created slightly different sized cowls with each yarn, reflected in the pattern notes.
