The In Reverse Hat is the companion to the In Reverse Mitts.

While the mitts are worked “in reverse”, the hat is worked traditionally from brim to crown. Three alternating arrows are worked in one section of the hat while the rest is stockinette; making for a quick and easy hat. The arrows are faux cables worked as twisted stitches.

This is a great hat for a beginner. Skills needed include:

basic stitches and decreases, working in the round, switching to double points, two circulars, or magic loop for the crown. Instructions for the twisted stitches are explained in detail.
